Montevideo (1 night)
Upon arrival in the sophisticated city of Montevideo, your personal host will take you by private transfer to your luxury hotel located in Carrasco, on the waterfront and boasting beautiful views of the Rio de la Plata. On the first day of your luxury vacation in Uruguay, along with your expert guide, you will discover historical highlights within Montevideo’s charming Old City, including Plaza Independencia and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Continue to the vibrant Mercado del Puerto which hosts a variety of steakhouse restaurants and artisan shops, and visit some of the capital’s best museums, such as the Carnival Museum. Later that day, enjoy an exclusive demonstration of Candombe music, an important part of Afro-Uruguayan heritage, by local musician Fernando Núñez Ocampo in his studio. In the evening, return to Carrasco and savor a delicious recommended dinner at one of the city’s best restaurants.
Punta del Este (3 nights)
Begin your journey by private transfer to Uruguay’s stunning seaside city, Punta del Este. Along the way, stop at a 24-hectare olive oil plantation where you will enjoy exclusive access to the property without any other visitors. Here, you can enjoy a tour from the owner himself who will tell you all about the 10,000 olive trees planted on the property, the production process, and sustainability efforts. You’ll also enjoy a private olive oil tasting before savoring a delicious BBQ lunch as you take in the stunning views of the Uruguayan countryside that surrounds the property. In the afternoon, continue to your luxury accommodation in La Barra, in Punta del Este.
The next day, take a private transfer to Montoya Beach where you will embark on a private biking excursion along the coast to the village of Manantiales before heading into the green Uruguayan countryside where you’ll ride past beautiful estancias and charming fincas. Arrive at the spectacular Narbona restaurant, set in a vineyard, to enjoy a delicious lunch made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and award-winning wines from their own vineyards. After your meal, you can return to the hotel by private transfer, or opt to bike back to Montoya Beach to enjoy a refreshing dip in the ocean before returning to your accommodation. Later that evening, savor a recommended dinner at a nearby wine lodge.
The following morning, visit some of the famous pristine beaches Punte del Este is best known for, including the picturesque beaches of La Mansa and La Brava. Your private driver and guide will take you to the harbor where you can see authentic fishermen’s boats, explore the fish market, and watch sea lions lounging on the docks. From here, you will board a private motor boat and journey to Sea Lion Island to further observe these playful animals and even swim with them if you wish! Continue by private boat to Gorriti Island which was once a historically significant military outpost during colonial times. Kayak from your boat to the island, then enjoy a scenic hike along pine and eucalyptus lined paths before relaxing on a beautiful beach. Return to your boat and savor a seaside picnic while taking in the island’s natural beauty before cruising back to Punta del Este by private boat.
Jose Ignacio (3 nights)
Your luxury Uruguay tour continues along the country’s southeastern coastline to the secluded coastal village of José Ignacio. First, take a private transfer with your guide to visit Fundación Pablo Atchugarry, a gallery and sculpture park designed by the Uruguayan artist himself. Depending on his schedule, you may have the opportunity to meet the artist during your tour and learn about his abstract sculptural art firsthand. Continue to your luxury coastal hotel in José Ignacio, a perfect region for a tranquil escape. On your first evening, embark on a horseback riding excursion through rural landscapes, along picturesque beaches, and across sandy dunes, enjoying the gentle sound of the ocean waves as you take in the region’s natural beauty.
Begin your next day with a gentle hike through a large private estate located in the beautiful Uruguayan countryside to a small creek. Then, embark on a kayaking excursion toward Anastasio Lagoon, a natural wonder known for its picturesque landscapes and biodiversity. Savor a delicious private picnic lunch as you enjoy the grasslands around the property and then return by private transfer to your hotel where you can relax at leisure and enjoy the luxurious amenities of your hotel, including recommended spa treatments. Later, enjoy a recommended dinner at La Huella, Uruguay’s most famous restaurant located on the beachfront and popular for celebrities and locals alike.
Your luxury tour of Uruguay continues with a biking excursion through rolling hills and expansive ranchlands to the sleepy countryside village of Garzón, a picturesque settlement with a tiny population. Continue to the vineyard of Bodega Garzon by private transfer, where you’ll enjoy a private tour and wine tasting of some of Uruguay’s finest wines. Then, savor a delicious lunch at their restaurant, headed by the internationally acclaimed Francis Mallmann.
