The Best Time To Visit The Atacama Desert
Chile’s Atacama Desert can be enjoyed year-round however, we recommend visiting between September and November or during its fall months, from March through May.
The Atacama is known for its unparalleled stargazing opportunities, thanks to its extremely dry climate, high altitude and minimal light pollution. The best time to stargaze in the Atacama, and witness the stark lunar-like scenery meets the cosmic wonders of the night sky, is March through May.
During this time, the desert boasts daytime highs of 77°F and fresh evening lows of 41°F. Clear skies and minimal rainfall create perfect conditions for stargazing; make the most of this and enjoy a private stargazing experience with a professional astronomer.
The fall season also benefits from lower footfall and fewer crowds so you can marvel at the region’s unspoiled and unique landscapes in private. We recommend visiting the Moon Valley at sunset and the Tatio Geysers at dawn.
From September to November, enjoy day-time peak temperatures of between 68°F to 77°F. These warmer temperatures are perfect for biking excursions through the spectacular gorges of the Cordillera de la Sal, and horseback riding adventures to the Valley of the Dinosaurs.
Visit the Atacama Desert during this time and witness the blooming wildflowers in some parts of the region, a striking contrast to the otherwise stark desert landscapes.

The Best Time To Visit Easter Island
The best time to visit Easter Island, known locally as Rapa Nui, is during Chile’s shoulder seasons of spring and fall. During this time, you’ll enjoy smaller crowds and mild weather.
During the region’s spring months of October through December, this remote island experiences warm daytime temperatures, ranging from 68°F to 77°F. These pleasant conditions combined with the lower likelihood of rainfall make it the perfect time to explore the spectacular giant monolith statues known as Moai, which are scattered all across the island.
Hiking and biking excursions are a great way to explore Easter Island as you can reach many of the Moai statues while also witnessing rugged cliffs, lush grassland and deep craters.
Between October and December, you’ll notice the water temperatures rising, making it a great time to enjoy private snorkeling excursions around the most isolated inhabited island in the world. Keep an eye out for marine fauna and vibrant corals, especially around Motu Tautara, an islet located in a protected coastal marine area.
The warmer temperatures here during April through June also offer pleasant conditions for hiking excursions. Embark on a private hike to Pui Rano Raraku and the Moai quarry, bike to the coast of Ahu Tongariki to admire 15 imposing Moai statues, and enjoy fewer crows at Ahu Tongariki and various other archaeological sites.

During your tour, hike through the vineyards, horseback ride through beautiful groves, and admire the blooming flora that brings life to the landscapes.
In Chile’s fall months, expect to see larger crowds as the annual grape harvest, known locally as the “vendimia,” takes place.
