We are a US-based company with a strong local presence in both Latin America and the Mediterranean. The company was founded in 2002 by Emmanuel Burgio.
We were ranked as one of Latin America's Top Travel Specialists by Condé Nast Traveler for four consecutive years (2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008), and have been awarded the A-list Top Travel Agents by Travel + Leisure from 2009 to 2014. Blue Parallel is also part of Virtuoso, a by-invitation-only organization that is the industry's leading luxury travel network. Blue Parallel hosted numerous prestigious travelers since its inception, and is frequently featured in prestigious publications both in the United States and abroad.
Blue Parallel was founded in 2002 by Emmanuel Burgio. Emmanuel is French, was born in Holland and raised in the South of France. After his studies in London, he worked in investment banking in New York City. Later, he decided to take a year-long sabbatical to explore the world and his experience enticed him to share his passion for adventure and discovery by creating Blue Parallel.
The company initially launched with long weekend escapes from New York to Machu Picchu for senior bankers and other successful individuals. Our travelers would leave their office on Thursday evening, explore the Peruvian Andes on Friday, hike the last portion of the Inca Trail on Saturday, visit the ruins of Machu Picchu on Sunday, discover the fascinating city of Cusco on Monday, and be back in the office on Tuesday morning. The feedback received was very encouraging as our travelers felt they had experienced a very special moment with us.
Following our successes in Peru, we progressively expanded our offerings in the special natural and cultural World Heritage destinations of Latin America, such as the glaciers of Patagonia, the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Iguassu Falls on the border of Brazil and Argentina, and the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha off of the northeastern coast of Brazil, to name a few. As part of this expansion, we were fortunate to work on a multi-destination project with world-renowned National Geographic photographer Bobby Haas where Blue Parallel planned the logistics for his dizzying aerial photographic book of Latin America (Through the Eyes of the Condor). This exciting project further helped us with providing new offerings to our clients.
In 2007, Blue Parallel extended its offerings to Central America, with journeys to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Costa Rica, therefore expanding our footprint in Latin America. Blue Parallel has become the go-to travel service for anyone who wants the top of the line Latin American experience.
In 2013, growing on the success in Latin America, and responding to the demand of our loyal clientele, we decided to embark on a new chapter and expand into the Mediterranean, a fascinating region rich in cultural and natural wonders. Having grown up in the south of France, with deep family roots as well as strong personal contacts throughout the Mediterranean, Emmanuel felt that the Mediterranean was a logical choice for new destinations. Blue Parallel currently offers private, custom-made journeys in Morocco, Andalucía, Corsica, Greece and Turkey. These exclusive journeys are designed around the theme of World Heritage Sites, with breathtaking outdoor adventures, gourmet regional cuisine, exclusive lodging and unprecedented insider access.
